Spring seems to have arrived – nice to get a tease of the Okanagan Summer and we have witnessed a healthy spring in our portfolio values as well!
The quote on the front of our last newsletter was: “This too shall pass”, and we are happy to report that market volatility seems to have calmed after a rather tumultuous final quarter of 2018.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2019, we review potential positives and negatives that we are watching. In particular, the media has made much of the ‘bond yield curve inverting’, which is often a sign of recession – so we take a closer look at this.

We believe in fee and performance transparency, so we review what benchmark returns looked like for the start of 2019 and compare those to our core holdings in each major asset class.
Although we remain generally positive, given how much markets rebounded to start 2019, we do feel that returns for the remainder of the year may be more muted.
